Mandatory use of LED bulbs pushed

A measure was filed at the (Philippines) House of Representatives proposing the mandatory use of Light Emitting Diode (LED) in all government offices to reduce energy consumption by as much as 70 percent. Rep. Eric Olivarez of Paranaque City in House Bill 262, or the “LED Light Savings Act of 2013,” acknowledged the benefits of the use of LED technology in lighting fixtures and bulbs. LEDs, which are small and  efficient solid bulbs, were first developed for single bulb use in applications such as instrument panels, electronics, pen lights and strings of indoor and outdoor Christmas lights, according to Olivares.
