Kauai utility to retrofit 3,500 streetlights

Kauai Island Utility Cooperative said Friday it will use energy-saving LEDs to retrofit 3,500 streetlights that are owned by Kauai County and the state. KIUC said it received approval from the Public Utilities Commission to retrofit the lights. The cooperative said work to retrofit the streetlights will begin in 2016 and be completed in about a year.
