Halifax will use a control system from Silver Spring Networks to managed
43,000 new LED street lights in the city and outlying rural areas, according to LEDs Magazine. The control system – which is expected to cut costs and improve effectiveness – also sets Halifax up to add sensors for smart city applications. These could include water and electric meter reading, traffic monitoring, water monitoring, traffic counters and advertising panels, the story says. The LEDs were provided by LED Roadway Lighting.
